Helpful answers about therapy

Deciding to begin therapy is a meaningful step, and it is completely normal to have questions about the process, logistics, and what to expect. At Values & Vitality Psychotherapy, we provide evidence-based, culturally responsive care across Ontario, helping you find clarity and comfort from your very first contact.

Frequently asked questions

Here you will find straightforward details regarding our therapy practice in Ontario, including information about virtual appointments, insurance coverage, session structure, and how we approach our work together.

What should I expect during our first session?

Starting therapy can feel uncomfortable, especially if you have never been before. You may worry about being judged, not knowing where to begin, or wondering whether therapy will actually help. You do not need to prepare the perfect explanation or have the right words. I will guide the conversation, listen without judgment, and help us understand what you are experiencing and what you would like to change. Our first session is also an opportunity for you to get to know me, ask questions, and decide whether you feel comfortable working together without any pressure.

Are sessions virtual or in person?

All sessions are offered virtually to adolescents and adults residing anywhere in Ontario. In-person appointments are not currently offered.

How long is a therapy session?

Individual sessions are 50 minutes in duration.

How much does a session cost?

The standard fee is $150 per 50-minute individual session.

Are sessions covered by insurance or extended health benefits?

Many extended health care plans in Ontario cover psychotherapy services provided by a Registered Psychotherapist (RP). Because coverage varies widely depending on your specific plan and provider, please verify your mental health benefits before booking.

Do you provide direct billing?

Direct billing is not currently available. Following each session and payment, you will receive an official receipt containing all necessary licensing details to submit directly to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Do you offer reduced-fee or sliding-scale sessions?

Yes. A limited number of reduced-fee spaces are available for individuals experiencing financial barriers. Please feel free to ask about current sliding-scale availability during your consultation.

What languages are therapy services available in?

Therapy is offered in English, Farsi, and French.

Ready to take the next step?

If you are considering therapy, the next step is to book an initial consultation. We will discuss what you are experiencing, what you are hoping to work on, and whether my approach is a good fit for you. No pressure. No commitment. Just an open opportunity to connect and see if working together feels right.
